Crochet squares...

I patched the smaller squares and made eight larger ones.

Using the slip stitch,I joined the larger squares together..Now, I have to work on the rest of the pattern. I still do not what size I want this to be. I think, that all depend on the amount of yarn I have in the colour scheme I have chosen. So far, I manged with Bernat yarn (100% acrylic made in Canada) which I have gathered from thrift-stores. I still have few balls left.

Yard Sale finds !!

My neighbourhood church recently had their annual yard sale. Here are few that I useful things I got.

Cost for the yarn lot was $4. The dish is stoneware from Japan, which is well made and has a nice design to it. I just chose a random over for it. They both were 0.25cent each.

The green and brown bag is from a Canadian designer (googled and found out) anatomyofaskirt.com
it was 0.50cent. and it is very new.

The flowered one has a Cath Kidston label. (which I know a designer from UK) It is bit discoloured on the side, and was also 0.50cent.

And, the new cotton rug was$1.

That is all for today,

Thanks for stopping by for a peek,

Update on a Thursday...

I have almost completed the applique part of the spring saree quilt. But, there quite a lot of stitching still to do. I would like to see it finished, at least by the end of spring; if not it will be 'summer' quilt.

The small embroidery piece is also coming along.

On crocheting..
I made a wallet, inspired by this pattern that I came across in one of the "Crochet" magazine, it is from spring of 2012.

I followed the stitch pattern but changed the assembly part of it. I stitched the both sides and made it a pouch like, also opted out the inside pocket panel. I want mine to hold all sorts of membership and rewards cards that I have, the one I have been using has fallen apart.

I covered a simple white button with cotton fabric to make it bit more cheerful, also it adds contrast.

I am happy with the final result.

Footstool ....

cover....make over (crochet)

This makeover was done with cotton yarn that I have collected from the thrift stores.  The original cover (above right) has nice indian embroidery work with mirrors, but the colour is quite pale.( for my liking) I have had it for few years now, and finally I thought of giving it a new look with crocheting.

I am pleased with my attempt, and I am loving the new colours too :)

a happy Easter and Passover  weekend!!

Second day of spring...

spring saree quilt...

adding colour to the applique...

Putting the crochet squares together...

For this project, I  manged to collect few BERNAT (brand) super value yarn balls from the thrift store over several months. I hope they will yarn last till the end of the project.

A crochet flower  to wear on my spring jacket. Since, I took the picture I have added two leaves from this green yarn and have worn it several times now.

Otomi Embroidery?( or not?) I was given a bag of scrap material by a friend, and this embroidery piece was among the material. I had not seen this type of work before, so I searched the internet for images and information. I think it is Otomi embroidery (images here) from Mexico. I am thinking of making a cushion cover out this.

Looking forward to  leaves and blooms !!!!

Saturday..

I tried a bit more of darning on jute.. a paisley design this time.

Saree quilt  is coming along too..

Crochet Squares... I am not experienced in crocheting,(this my second year of learning) but I feel that the pattern has either a printing error or an editing error. Because when I followed the instructions I could not figure out after the 2nd round.(or may be I am wrong) I had to keep referring to the picture many times, and I did change stitches in couple of places.

Crafts for V.Day....
Jute hearts , used tea bag envelope  and  letters  made out of naturally dyed fabric.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

A bit of darning...

My current sewing projects seems never ending, and I much needed a break from them, and this what I did; a small darning piece on jute/gunny sack.

I have done applique before on jute also darning on cotton material, but this is the first time I tried darning on these.

On a recent visit to the thrift store, I also picked up two bags of colourful tapestry wool and I wanted to try  something with them. And, this project seemed ideal for that.

.. there is more room for improvement;
