Learning crewel wool embroidery

Babushka

A small piece practiced with crewel wool. I bought these wool, some from the thrift-store and, the others from, when they have our annual neighbourhood church sales.  I do not have lots of colour selection, but I tried my best to match.

Using acrylic paint, I added details to her face and, some parts of her dress.

Mini Yarn ..

crocheproject .....

On a recent visit to the Dollar store, I came across mini cotton yarn packs, (which are priced at $4.) I  bought one to try some crocheting.

First, I tried the cactus flowers first.. but figured the idea I had mind won't be a successful one.

..then after making several attempts on various motifs and shapes, finally settled for mini granny squares; 2x2 inches.
.... and made a small table runner for the coffee table. It measures roughly 9x23 inches.

by the time I finished everything , most of the sunlight for the day was gone so the pictures did not come out as clear as I wanted them to be.

Catherine wheel ..is making its progress slowly too, I managed to add few more rows.

this lovely Japanese hand crafted tea pot was $2 from a recent yard sale browsing. It is from a brand called Miyako.

This is my first completed crochet project for this summer.  Once again, I used left over yarn from the thrift store.

stitches ,stitches...

I found bit of time to do pencil colour drawings on weekends ..

This gorgeous needlepoint work was $2 from a yard sale; which was also in a frame, I only had to put it up. I love it !

Few pictures of a very artistic garden that I came across on my weekend walks.  There were so many eye catching items placed all around the garden.

I love it when you stop by,

Spring-Summer decoration

made using punch needle

When I started this punch needle project, my intention was to do a square piece to include in a frame. But I couldn't find enough colour to fill in the background, so I cut the individual birds, added a felt back and some stuffing. And, put it in a string to make a bird chain. I also made few felt flowers for the branch.

I used Dollar store cotton yarn for this, which was actually $3; Dollar store does not have many one dollar items any more. I liked the fun summer colours in the pack.

My neighbourhood church had its annual yard sale this weekend.

some lovely napkins

magnifying glass and a folding pair of scissors ; they were 50 cents each
