January 2021

I was able to finish my latest Modigliani inspired portrait. Other than that, I have not done much creative work.

Hoping that 2021 brings much needed relief from covid-19.

Wishing everyone a safe and a healthy new year!!

Easter Weekend

These coasters were made for my friends of  the Tea Group that I belong. They were for the Easter exchange. I found the pattern here, and the tutorial was easy to follow.

reverse

I also included each a; teabag art turned into books marks.

This peacock has been waiting to get completed for awhile. Since, I did couple of bigger projects during winter and, also the winter light is not so favourable for embroidery work, it was left in my craft box.  Last couple of weekends had enough daylight for me to finish it, although I am not very satisfied with my attempt; there is more room for improvement. I think it is to time for me to visit the optician too:)

A new project with crewel wool. I found these persian yarn skeins at the thrift store which says both needlepoint and crewel yarn. I did few small pieces before with crewel wool and I liked the texture it brings and I'm looking forward to start this one to see how it will turn out.

For those friends who celebrate, have a wonderful Easter weekend  !!!

Thank you for stopping by this long weekend,

Burlap (Jute)

Running stitches on a burlap sack using acrylic yarn/wool. You have to wait a bit more longer to see the final make. I am satisfied with the effort so far. Due to the gloomy weather it was difficult to get a decent photograph.

How do you like teabag art turned into maybe book-marks?

It rained quite a lot on saturday morning, so I spent most of the day doing crafts and having lots of tea.. it was wonderful.

looking forward to may flowers ...

First day of

Spring....

Bit of paint and stitches on a tea bag. The photograph did not come out well, as it was quite gloomy on saturday, with some snowing too.

continue working on the sewing/quilting piece as well. (this photo was taken sunday)

While browsing for crafting items, I came across these lovely handkerchives, in their original boxes; one of which is mens'(plain one) I am collecting hankies for while a now, with few ideas in mind. They were $2.99 a box.

Join me for a cup !

Thank you for stopping by on this first day of spring ,

Weaving continue..

I completed another small weaved piece. I experimented with different textured yarn. I, think I should have used a more contrasting colour for the bottom trims, it would have added more of a balance to the whole piece. On to the next one..

Couple of more tea bag crafts over many cups of tea on a gloomy rainy afternoon.

Used tea bag..

crafts...

I did couple of projects before with used tea bags.  You can see them here and here. For, these pieces I used embroidery thread and, also bits of lace.

I quite enjoyed making these and, I have a whole stack to experiment with. These tea filters are  bit bigger than regular bags which I like, because it has space to work a pattern with more embellishments etc.

Have to be careful when working with such flimsy paper, I pricked my finger few times.. :)

Winter is just around the corner..

Thank you for stopping by for a peek,

Saturday..

I tried a bit more of darning on jute.. a paisley design this time.

Saree quilt  is coming along too..

Crochet Squares... I am not experienced in crocheting,(this my second year of learning) but I feel that the pattern has either a printing error or an editing error. Because when I followed the instructions I could not figure out after the 2nd round.(or may be I am wrong) I had to keep referring to the picture many times, and I did change stitches in couple of places.

Crafts for V.Day....
Jute hearts , used tea bag envelope  and  letters  made out of naturally dyed fabric.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

Wasteful Art !

When you  buy bread or certain times packaged vegetables [at the supermarket] the plastic bags they come in are secured with  these types of tabs. [may not be the correct word for it]

I have been collecting the tabs for awhile just to see how much of a plastic pile I can make.

While the collection grew, I had sketched few ideas how to use them. This is an experimental mixed media project. Apart from the tabs, I also incorporated used tea bags, scraps of fabric, and lots of acrylic paint.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself doing the project; but I do not know how well my idea is presented here.

This magazine was featured in many crochet blogs in the past month, and it did look interesting. So, when I saw it at the book store, I wanted to treat myself, and here's my copy. :)

It has a small crochet project included; yarn and a hook to make a snowflake.

The instructions are in UK terms. But it does have guide with all the abbreviations and US terms, in one of the back pages. I think I manged to get it fairly right. There was enough yarn to make two; the second one turned out bit smaller as I made the stitches more tight.

Let it snow ! let it snow !

I am taking little time off from work to visit my mother. My mother is turning 70 yrs. in couple days, and my grand mother(mother's mum), is turning 93 yrs. They both have their birthday on the same day.

I wish you all happy holidays and a peaceful 2014 !!!
See you in the new year..........

Used tea bags ...

~ Lavender and clove sachets ~

This is another little experiment I did with used tea bags. Well, it did not turn out the exact way I wanted.

The things you need are, used tea bags, soft cotton and cotton thread [or pretty ribbons];

practiced some crocheting as well.... but it is very difficult do so on such flimsy paper.....  I need to be more patient with these, sometimes I am in a hurry to see the end results.

smells so lovely !!!

There are stitches that came loose in some places, which need fixing.

Thank you for always stopping by,

Until next time,
