Bit of August..

August went by, I did couple of projects. Both had lots and lots of stitches :)

This portrait inspired by painting of  artist Amedeo Modigliani. I love his style of painting. This my attempt to create the same in a different medium. this measures approx. 8x12. It turned out better than I thought it would be. I have sketched few more to try.

Few things in July..

I did another embroidery piece, this is inspired by artist Henry Matisse's 'Woman with a Hat'.

July was extremely warm, which was also ideal weather for ciders/beers; couple of sketches I did while enjoying cider.

Left hand crochet : making a baby blanket for a friend.

Finally, after 10  months of sewing, I finished the scrap quilt. I am happy with my effort here.

Hope you are enjoying the weekend,

Triangle Scarf..

I made first triangle scarf last winter. When I wore it work, a friend of mine liked it a lot, so I gave it her.

I made one again, this time I used a ball of variegated yarn to start and, then added matching colours.

What do you think of it?

Happy Holidays and all best for 2019 !!!

Thank you for visiting me this year and, I do appreciate all your kind comments.

Toadstool ..

pincushion....

I found the dainty ceramic container among thimbles at my neighbourhood church's fall jumble sale, few weeks ago.  At first, I thought it was a thimble but looking at it closely, it does not appear to have the shape of a thimble, also it is heavy. It is about 3cm tall, has a lovely design of bunnies, butterflies and bees. While, I do not know what it is used for ......

..I made another pincushion.

Autumn coloured crocheted scarf....

I found the pattern on this crochet designer's blog.  http://shropshirescrappersuz.blogspot.com/2017/09/circle-of-life-skinny-scarf.html
There are number of other free patterns to you like to check it out.

I used  lots of odds and ends from many types of yarn and, tried best to match the colours.

hat was for a friend of mine, she liked it a lot.

my attempt to take a selfie, to show the scarf..:) but could not capture well.

join me for a warm cup of tea !!

Mini Yarn ..

crocheproject .....

On a recent visit to the Dollar store, I came across mini cotton yarn packs, (which are priced at $4.) I  bought one to try some crocheting.

First, I tried the cactus flowers first.. but figured the idea I had mind won't be a successful one.

..then after making several attempts on various motifs and shapes, finally settled for mini granny squares; 2x2 inches.
.... and made a small table runner for the coffee table. It measures roughly 9x23 inches.

by the time I finished everything , most of the sunlight for the day was gone so the pictures did not come out as clear as I wanted them to be.

Catherine wheel ..is making its progress slowly too, I managed to add few more rows.

this lovely Japanese hand crafted tea pot was $2 from a recent yard sale browsing. It is from a brand called Miyako.
