A sewing project with the fabric pieces that I dyed few months ago.
I love patterns that I am able to create with running stitch.“In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.” ~ Rumi

April showers ...
Spring
Few things in March....
Almost end of the year ...
Recently, I did some natural dyeing. I used pomegranate skins, blueberry, avocado skins and spinach and celery.
Fabric pieces are all cotton, and has a small woven design on it. I am not sure yet, what I want to make out them. I am pleased with the colours.
Happy Holidays !!!
Best wishes for 2022!
Till next time,

May went by..
Balance ; Inner and Outer
It is stitched on naturally dyed fabric. Finding inner calm during stressful times.
After quite some time, I did some pencil colour drawing too.
Summer scarf
I was given these scarves by a friend (her friend was throwing them away), couple of summers ago. They were sitting on my fabric pile, and, I was not sure what I wanted to do with them.
I finally thought of making a longer scarf using all of them. I am not sure if it will turn out the way I planned.
Gustav Klimt's - Kiss
Inspired by the painting, I'm doing my own piece. So far, I have enjoyed the stitching.
have a cup of tea ...

a new project ....
Sunny & a warm day..
in the middle of winter..
Bit of sewing..what is it going to be? you have to wait a bit longer.
It is being a sunny today, I was able to get a better picture to show you, of my woven pieces which are hanging in my living room. I had to move them around a bit to get into one shot.
dyeing fabric with some home ingredients. this pot has boiled beet root water, tea leaves, orange peel, turmeric, vinegar and salt. I am waiting to see which colour will be prominent; probably turmeric.
This was beginning of the week; last Sunday evening. I think we got about 10cm of snow.
and by end of the week (saturday afternoon), it was like this. All the snow was melting away so fast.....and it was about 11 celsius by Saturday afternoon.
Side walks were full of people, also pets, lots were having ice cream. I even came upon a yard sale selling books and records. I walked a lot in and around the neighbourhood, and it was just wonderful to soak up some much needed sunshine before cold temperature returns.

Contemporary Kantha work
The space in between ...
For this small project I used my home experimented & naturally dyed fabric, and a very pretty tie dye silk scarf I found at the thrift store.
“Why struggle to open a door between us when the whole wall is an illusion?”
― Rumi
I also attempted to make a kantha worked flower out the left over material from my tea cosy project. It still needs a little bit more grooming; I was not able to attach the petals properly.
The decorative beaded disc is from india which I sewed to a stuffed felt centre. I do have some green saree material from which I want to make a suitable leaf(or leaves) for it..
Thank you so much for stopping by today,

Balance continued...
contemporary kantha work..
Another small piece to add to my theme "balance"
This piece includes natural dyes from blueberry, raspberry, henna, pomegranate skins, turmeric and tea. The colours turns out subtle because I keep the fabric in for a very short period of time.
It took about 3-4 months to complete the piece.

“Don't be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.”
― Rumi, Essential Rumi
I also added a tea dyed piece of crocheted lace which I found at the church yard sale.
If more ideas pop into my head there will be another one to the collection.
Though at the beginning, I always feel the process is too tedious and wish I never started; I do feel happy when I see the final result. It is worth the effort.
Thank you for taking time to stop by,
Until next time,

Balance
Inner and outer....
Inspired by my previous stitching of a similar pot I stitched this piece, using a different shape this time. I used fabric from my naturally dyed pile. And, as for the stitches, kantha stitch is what I had in mind.
Begins with a simple outline... same stitch repeats....

"Your hand opens and closes, and opens and closes.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open
you would be paralyzed.
Your deepest presence
is in every small contraction and expansion,
the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
as bird wings.”
