Checker Square; 9 patch blanket

Finally, I finished it.

I am quite happy with the results, considering all the yarn came from thrift stores from my neighbourhood. I collected them for awhile and still do. And, although, they are not from one particular brand, together they all look interesting.

Spring Saree Quilt and more...

I need patience to work on this small embroidery project; it has many details to it too. I have been working on it for few weeks now, yet I feel it is at the same place. I am using one strand of cotton embroidery thread and, chain stitch is what I have been working mostly with.

Spring Saree Quilt

This is my third saree quilt. I am working on three layers of  saree; they are soft cottons. I have decided not to add a batting for this one.

The applique pattern is cut free hand using pieces of saree material, and I am sewing it with blanket stitch.

On learning left hand crochet...

I found this acrylic yarn at the thrift store just before holidays for $2.  I don't think it is of a good quality as the squares became quite stiff when done. This motif is from the Vogue Dictionary of crochet stitches, page 146. I did struggle a bit with the last row of the motif, and may not have done exactly what the pattern said. The instructions aren't that clear (at least for me). I would have liked if I was able make more flowers but there wasn't enough yarn from all the colours except for pink.

Anyway, it was nice little project to try over the holidays.

Thank you for stopping by for a peek,
