Quiet weekend

First day of spring ......

A very BIG thank you for all the front-line workers who are working tirelessly to keep us safe, at this critical time.

Past few days staying home from work, I had time to work on my creative pieces. I bought few tee shirts from the thrift store which I cut into strips, they add a different texture. I am also adding pieces of velvet,felt and other thick yarn.

quiet moment....the new normal

An..

invitation to enjoy a sweet cup of tea ..

“Tea ... is a religion of the art of life.”

“If you are cold, tea will warm you;
if you are too heated, it will cool you;
If you are depressed, it will cheer you;
If you are excited, it will calm you.”
― William Ewart Gladstone

I still have not added the backing for the piece, and I also do not know how best I can display it.  The design is from one of my past work that I did on jute (you can see a picture of it on the bottom of the blog page).

I' m also contemplating, if I should fill in rest of the background with the running stitch as well. I took photos as I was too excited to show it.

Up-cycled...( i think)

a fun crafty project of turning this empty jute tea package into a colourful a little bag.

Saturday..

I tried a bit more of darning on jute.. a paisley design this time.

Saree quilt  is coming along too..

Crochet Squares... I am not experienced in crocheting,(this my second year of learning) but I feel that the pattern has either a printing error or an editing error. Because when I followed the instructions I could not figure out after the 2nd round.(or may be I am wrong) I had to keep referring to the picture many times, and I did change stitches in couple of places.

Crafts for V.Day....
Jute hearts , used tea bag envelope  and  letters  made out of naturally dyed fabric.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!

Cups of Tea !

Applique on gunny/burlap sack

I did another applique on a gunny sack. These coffee bean sacks are quite coarse as such little difficult sew. Nevertheless, it was fun to create this wall hanging.

... some thrift store material as the backing.
Let's all have tea !
one for you and one for me  :)

Thank you for stopping by,

Applique on gunny sack

Tea, any one ??

It rained a lot this weekend and I stayed indoors and did a bit of sewing. Tea is a wonderful companion and I had many throughout the day.  These are my tea inspired creations.

Isn't the piece of cake looks yummy !

Applique on ...

Gunny sack /burlap sack/jute

My friend and I were at a fair traded organic coffee shop the other day, and we saw that the empty sacks are on sale for $2. We both purchased sacks wanting to try some form of creative work on it. I did a few  sketches and opted to try out this applique for a window panel.

I separated the sack into two by trimming the off the edges, and used one piece to create this.

blanket stitches all over......

some work with ribbon, and felt ...

I did put the backing and the border with some blueish grey material and sewed a casing for the rod. This is my experimental project and I do like the way it turned out.  I think I will be going to the coffee shop to buy a couple of more sacks :)

And, as for this one, I will be giving away as a gift.
