Quiet weekend

First day of spring ......

A very BIG thank you for all the front-line workers who are working tirelessly to keep us safe, at this critical time.

Past few days staying home from work, I had time to work on my creative pieces. I bought few tee shirts from the thrift store which I cut into strips, they add a different texture. I am also adding pieces of velvet,felt and other thick yarn.

Stump-work portrait : inspiration Mrs. Sophia Petrilo, from popular  80's US TV series " The Golden Girls".

Bit of weaving..

Finally, a small piece of kantha embroidery also inspired by the picture of this lady who is making rice flour on a stone grinder. I kept the picture, which was printed on a packet of wheat flour I bought quite sometime ago. I wanted to do a painting of it, but I never got around to do it until recently. I did pencil colour drawing of it and, that gave me the idea to try this embroidery.

Fabric Collage

I have been doing few small craft projects over last couple of months. These couple of collage pieces turned out better than, I thought they would be.

Reversible summer scarf made using cotton saree pieces. I have worn it few times already.

Inspiration for this stump work portrait is Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's.  What do you think of her ?

Bits and pieces..

Over the Easter weekend, I was able spend extra bit of time doing  my creative work. I tried couple of stumpwork portraits. I am happy with my effort this time.

Another attempt on a stump-work portrait...

I did complete this few weeks ago but did not get chance to take pictures as I was away. I like the way her dress turned out.

Sri Lankan handloom...

I took a small break from work to visit my mum and, to spend time with her...I am always sad when it is time to say good-bye. But I need to get back to work and, life on the other side of the ocean.
