Spring Saree QuiltThis is my third saree quilt. I am working on three layers of saree; they are soft cottons. I have decided not to add a batting for this one.
The applique pattern is cut free hand using pieces of saree material, and I am sewing it with blanket stitch.
On learning left hand crochet...
I found this acrylic yarn at the thrift store just before holidays for $2. I don't think it is of a good quality as the squares became quite stiff when done. This motif is from the Vogue Dictionary of crochet stitches, page 146. I did struggle a bit with the last row of the motif, and may not have done exactly what the pattern said. The instructions aren't that clear (at least for me). I would have liked if I was able make more flowers but there wasn't enough yarn from all the colours except for pink.
Anyway, it was nice little project to try over the holidays.
Thank you for stopping by for a peek,
till next time,

Gaia
Gaia, your squares are beautiful. I like the colours very much. And it must be very good to stitch into the silk of the sari.
ReplyDeleteYou are making such lovely things! The embroidery is really beautiful so far, as is the quilt. And I love your crocheted piece. That looks like a really good book!
