Most of  the left over yarn made into my left handers-leftover blanket.

This stitch I used is Moss Stitch. I also added an edging.

On Autumn Saree quilt .......

I have pieced  and has added batting , now all that is left is quilting.

On this piece so far I have learnt; Petal Stitch, Encroaching satin stitch (which did not turn out as to my liking yet) Threaded back stitch

On Crochet ; Recently I bought this  Americana Afghans magazine, published in 1974 from the Salvation Army thrift store. It has both crochet and knitting projects which look wonderful.

This octagonal motif pattern looked rather pretty and I want to give it a try. This is only the first try, and there few errors needs be corrected

Autumn saree quilt..

This is going to be my fourth saree quilt. You can see the first quilt here and the second one here and third one here.

I found these cotton saree material at the thrift store sometime ago ;one with diagonal lines and the other squares.

I thought of attempting to create something with a rustic flare.

I still do not know how the whole layout will be, I am planning as I sew along.


Learning Embroidery ..............

This weekend being extra long (civic holiday here in Canada) I had time to finish the small embroidery piece.
The three main stitches I used throughout the piece are;
Scroll Stitch 
Double knot stitch 
Coral stitch ;  all these stitches are also known in several other names as well.

Lavender lady

Sachets..

Every lady is hand sewn, and the skirt part is filled with lavender.  I, myself love the lingering fragrance of lavender in my closet.

Learning embroidery....

In this piece, so far I have learnt; double knot stitch and coral stitch.... 

For, certain stitches instructions does indicate to work from right to left; being left handed I do find bit difficult. After practicing from right to left, I tried and copied it to left to right which I think worked alright.

I have named this project Left-hander's left over blanket.. It too is coming along , and is on hold for the moment, as I have used up most the left overs.

Learning Embroidery..

Here is my completed piece..

I am pleased with my effort. I also see the places I could have done better. I was bit short of one of the green floss, and had to substitute with another green (in her dress). I think the difference does not appear to be too prominent.

I am continuing with my embroidery lessons ..there is a new project already planned.

I have made bit more progress in my chain stitch piece.. ..

I usually don't get to do much embroidery after work as it does require fine stitching, and night lighting is hard for my eyes (even with glasses). I mostly do these types of work during day light. So, it has got limited to the weekends.

Crochet

It looks like that my crochet hook does not seem to catch a break.. I thought after the last project I would take break from crocheting, but it was not to happen.  Here's beginning of something new...with all the odds and ends that I have accumulated  since I started to learn crochet; which was just over 2 years ago.

For the past two years I have been buying yarn from the thrift store; often they are either half used, almost used or on a lucky day full. There are also lots of colours which have not made into any projects and I am trying to use them all  too. I am surprised at my collection of left-overs from left-overs :)

First day of summer .....

candy coloured summer flower branch......

The free flower tutorial is from this blog. The instructions are written well and, was easy to follow.  I initially thought of making a wreath but changed my mind, when I came across this branch,while taking a walk in my neighbourhood park.

I gathered flowers and a leaf and tied them in to a bunch and then tied again to the branch.

All four colours are of same variety of  yarn; yet another thrift store find :)

Crochet throw

for the sofa...

The motif pattern is from VOGUE Dictionary of crochet stitches..page 144.

All the yarn are from my thrift-ed collection. I tried my best keep in with the colour palette I had in mind, as well as to use yarn of the same variety. There are slight variations specially in yellow, as I did not have enough of the same. 

I am pleased with my effort, although there is lots of room for improvement.
