Saffron & Marigold flower...

saree quilt update...

I have made two of each block now.

each is different from one another.

one on the right is lacking few more details, which I will add later on. I feel very much myself in using free form to create; no restrictions or limitations.

~Photographing yellow has not been easy, even though I took all of them at the same time of the day, each lot shows variations.

My ripples of hope ; adding hopeful rows slowly.

Welcoming summer ...

footstool make over; bohemian style !!

The stool was not something antique, or well made for that matter, the lady who had it at her yard sale asked $2 for it. When I saw it I immediately thought of a make over.

I used folk art paint for the surface and, for the decorative patterns.

Neon coloured pom-poms added extra colour and texture that I had in mind. I enjoyed myself doing this project.
And, today's weather was just so warm and sunny, I took it out to the park to take these pictures.

-digital art-

I also experimented with a new art application which was I found in my Galaxy phone ;it also includes a pen that you can use it for drawing and, for writing which is great. But I think, I prefer the ipad better for digital drawings because it has a wider screen.

Saffron flower; block 2

I have manged to add few more stitches to the second saffron block. I am drawing them free hand, so each block will be slightly different from one another when completed.

Ripples of hope; crochet blanket is progressing slowly too. I haven't had the opportunity to do much crafting lately.

Sewing and .....

more sewing,,,,,
Part 2 of Saffron & Marigold flower quilt

After many hundreds of hand stitches I finished the marigold flower block that I am going to make. I hope that I have managed to the create some sort of impression of it. I have now completed one from each flower.. ..

Pencil Case

I have been carrying my pencils colours in a zip lock bag for awhile now, and kept postponing the idea of making a case. Finally, found some indian cotton fabric which was both pretty and suitable for the project.  First I thought of adding a piece of lace as an embellishment, but later I opted for this decorative beaded disc.

Place-mats Coasters

These already cut quilt blocks were in a bag of remnants that was passed on to me by a friend. I hand pieced them, added a backing and folded  the extra in front to make a border then completed with running stitch; as well as long all the other pieced lines. This set will be a gift to a  friend who moved her first home.

Yard sale findings;
Both my neighbourhood churches had their annual yard sales couple of weekends ago. I manged to stopped by at both places; here are few of the things I took home.

* coin purse lot was 1$

* a family of nesting dolls and a ceramic pencil sharpener was 1$

* old english needlepoint butter dish by H&K Tunstall was $2. It is very pretty.

* crochet hooks, thread, pieces of felt

* patterns and yarn

*pair of pretty oven mitts, kitchen towels, napkins and a embroidered table cloth.  The highest amount I paid for an item was $2, and everything I got are in good condition and will be well used.

Saffron flower ...

 Saree Quilt

I hope you will not get tired seeing another saree quilt of mine. I could not resist when I came across this cotton saree at the thrift store couple of months ago, for $4.99. I love the colour, and as soon as I saw, I knew I would want to make quilt.

The golden colour of the material inspired me to start with a saffron flower, and while sketching patterns I also thought about adding a marigold flower.

For the saffron flower, I am using folded bias tape cut out from a blue voile, and as for the marigold flower, I still have not decided how it should be done.

I have made some progress on the ripple pattern as well.
